In vitro anthelmintic activities of stem and root barks extracts of Parkia biglobosa on infective larvae and adult of Haemonchus contortus

The treatment of gastrointestinal nematode infections in the 21st century is largely through use modern synthetic anthelmintics. However, there over growing drug resistance to anthelmintics goats and sheep. This present study was carried out determine vitro anthelmintic activitities Parkia biglobosa using Larval motility inhibition assay (LMIA) Adult (AMIA). stem root barks P. were extracted which yielded four different extracts as Crude Aqueous Stem Bark Extract (CASBE), Methanol (CMSBE), Root (CARBE) (CMRBE). infective larvae adults Haemonchus contortus exposed concentrations each (2, 4, 8. 16 32 mg/ml) plant both comparable controls (Albendazole (ABZ)-positive control Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS)- negative control). result LMIA showed that at 12 hours exposure mg/ml for extracts, 55-75% mortality recorded while AMIA revealed post all ranged from 2-32 concentrations, 100% adult worms recorded.
